Reece is a multidisciplinary artist and contemporary ceramicist whose practice explores relationships between people, materials and the environments we inhabit, with a particular focus on ecology, materiality and environmental change.

Growing up on the South Coast, Reece developed a strong connection to coastal landscapes and the materials within them. The shifting shoreline, erosion, marine debris and traces of human activity continue to influence her work, encouraging her to consider how materials carry stories, traces of presence and histories beyond human experience.

Ceramics is currently at the forefront of Reece’s practice, but her work moves beyond traditional processes. She works with wild unfired clay, natural resources and found components alongside textiles, print, film and installation. Collecting and processing materials by hand allows the act of making to become part of the work, creating opportunities for unexpected relationships between material, place and maker.

Reece is interested in material agency and the possibility that materials hold their own histories, qualities and potential beyond the intentions of the maker. Her practice is informed by ecological thinking, New Materialism and Object-Oriented Ontology.

Across her practice, Reece questions permanence, functionality, consumption and value, often disrupting familiar processes to explore what clay can communicate when used in unconventional ways or remain connected to its origins.

Alongside studio practice, she values collaboration and sharing skills through creative workshops and community projects. Her work creates opportunities to reconsider how we understand material, place and our changing relationship with the environments around us.
