Artist Statement
To belong is not just to be seen, but to be remembered.
House of Belonging is a collaborative fashion campaign rooted in memory, inheritance, and identity. Inspired by David Whyte’s poem of the same name, it traces the story of a designer revisiting her childhood — where garments once worn by her mother now return, reimagined through her own hands.
As a visual communication designer, I work at the intersection of storytelling and design, building narratives through brand identity, campaigns, and visual worlds. For this project, I stepped into the role of creative collaborator, responding to the collection of BSU fashion graduate, Isabella Bacon, as both client and muse. Together, we shaped a story that feels deeply personal, yet universally resonant.
The campaign unfolds across multiple formats: a short film, two zines, and an immersive set design. I art directed the photoshoot Mirror Me, a quiet exploration of selfhood where child and adult versions of the designer meet through mirrors and memory. The set itself becomes a memoryscape, layered with crayon-marked walls, golden frames, and scattered keepsakes.
This isn’t nostalgia. It is a return to the rooms that raised us and the selves we once were — a quiet celebration of becoming, stitched together in light, memory, and home. And for those who walk into the space, I hope they find a version of home they can call their own.
