Through this body of work, Gazzard explores fire as a medium. Having previously researched volcanos through an improvised form of geological mapping, the installation carries the archival aesthetic from this, as well as the initial spark of inspiration, burning embers. They focus on the changing of individual pieces through the burning process. This forms a cycle of creation, destruction, documentation, and further exploration into these outcomes.

These themes are brought together through a variety of processes, such as paint making, book binding, photography, and object collage. The curational approach takes inspiration from surreal film and media, leaving the audience to piece together the ephemera, distorting the narrative and its perceptibility.
