Artist Statement
As an Iranian artist working primarily in painting, my practice engages with sociopolitical themes such as memory, trauma, and celebration acts that I view as forms of resistance and ways to reclaim the autonomy of private life. These themes are layered and interconnected, unfolding through an evolving image making process that moves fluidly between photography, digital collage, and drawing.
My work often explores the tension between joy and resistance, a duality I express through physical and conceptual layering. This approach manifests not only in my materials but in how I challenge traditional modes of representation. By disrupting perspectival depth cutting into images or expanding them with flat planes and abstract forms I intentionally collapse space, keeping the viewer at the surface and prompting reflection on narrative, presence, and positionality. I make art to initiate conversations around complex, often controversial subjects. I believe that if there is any path toward resolution or understanding, it lies in collective thinking and shared dialogue.
