Artist Statement
Lindsay is a multidisciplinary artist working with film, scent, poetry and installation. Her practice merges multiple senses—sight, sound, touch, and smell—to transform an experience from viewer into active participant.
Her practice is drawn from moments captured spontaneously on her always available iPhone, as well as responses to significant world events. While the original footage often emerges in unplanned moments, she has recently filmed the river Avon from source to sea. The editing process very deliberately explores narratives that convey emotional depth.
She creates films designed to evoke responses to the concept and deepens engagement by using visual haptic techniques—such as handheld cameras, varied focal lengths, and textured imagery. Layering either digitally or analogue creates layers of ideas and feeling.
Her work, life and politics is pacifist, activist and floating anarchist. Starting a conversation from a woman’s viewpoint with her voice speaking through the noise to bring current issues to light though engagement of the senses.
Her work supports you in ‘looking’ differently—softly, through your eyes. To be quiet and see with your ears; listen through your body. To take precious time and perceive what you smell. Be still for a moment. Be involved; occupy your senses and see, feel, hear, smell, and breathe where it takes you. Touch base with your feelings and thoughts in a pivotal moment, amidst these unsteady times.
