Permission is an immersive, participatory installation resembling a counselling or treatment room—a space associated with safety, care, and relaxation. Visitors are invited to enter, stay, sit or lie down, relax, and interact with the objects around them.

The stress balls in the room are handmade from different kinds of condoms. Visitors can touch, squeeze, press, rub, and play with them to release stress. Although stress balls and condoms are both ordinary objects, recognizing the material can suddenly change how touching them feels—making the same object seem strange, funny, or uncomfortable.

I believe that we still live in a sexually repressed society. Sex is an ordinary part of our bodies and lives, yet it is often associated with shame, taboo, excitement, humour, or danger. Repression never makes desire disappear. I am interested in how sexual repression intersects with misogyny, gender conflict, and power relations within desire.
