Harry Wilkins works across performance, video and installation, drawn to the overlooked and the incidental. His practice favours a reduced visual language: small, deft gestures that carry unexpected weight.
Informed by an enquiry into labour, precarity and the role of the artist, the work examines the interplay between care and neglect, holding a quiet sentimentality against a perverse ordinariness. A dry humour surfaces through absurd interventions, with a sensibility for objects and space.
Wilkins addresses failure, both as a means of production and a recurrent concern: the anticipation of potential collapse, things falling or held in suspension, objects as support structures. Accumulations of things swept to the edges persist by doing nothing.
Questions of temporality and attention run throughout the work, distilled into a sparse, deliberate poetry.
